Aldai Waxman is a singer-songwriter/pianist, who has just released his much anticipated first full-length album.

Down At Joe’s features several A-List musicians on the 15 tracks that were all written and arranged by Adlai. A few include Vito Rezza on drums (5 After 4/Joni Mitchell), Marc Rogers on bass (Holly Cole/Susan Tedeschi), and Justin Abedin on guitar (Jack Soul/Canadian Idol House band).

Fusing elements of pop/rock, jazz and folk, Adlai Waxman’s music combines clever songwriting with melodic piano compositions, and a distinct yet familiar vocal style that pushes the boundaries of traditional piano pop-music. He accomplishes true originality by mixing old and new sounds, and blending the textures of both acoustic and electric instruments, such as the accordion, violin, upright bass, acoustic guitar, piano, and electric keyboards.

October shows and more!

•October 13, 2007 • Leave a Comment

Hello all,

It’s been a few weeks since I got a chance to write. I will try to back track a bit to let you know what has gone on the past few weeks and what exciting things lie ahead. I have been really fortunate to be working with so many great musicians and songwriters!

On September 30, 2007 my good friend Mark Weinstock www.markweinstock.com  invited me to come check out a duo from New York City Called Jack Pot Luck. Jack Pot Luck was performing at The Moonshine Cafe in Oakville, Ontartio, Canada. Mark was sitting in with Jack Pot Luck www.myspace.com/jackpotluck   wich features singer songwriters Lilach Pearlstein on acoustic guitar/vocals and Gary Bonanni on acoustic guitar/vocals. I am really glad Mark invited me to this show! I really hit it off with these guys chatting about music etc. Before I knew it Jack Pot Luck invited me up to play as a guest on the old but in tune piano at The Moonshine. Even though this was our first time meeting and playing together we seemed to have a great connection musically. I ended up sitting in with them for most of their set! It was a really fun night and challenging for me as a musician as all their music was original. This was music that I had never heard before in my life!  My best bud Mark also sat in and he got to feature some of his original music which fortunately I do know. I hope to connect with Jack Pot Luck again soon. I will also post some pics of this night on my web site shortly.  The crazy thing was after we played the night was not over! Guitarist and songwriter Norman Liota finished off the night. Check him out at www.normanliota.com

The rest of my time this week has been spent gearing up for my upcoming shows in Toronto and surrounding area. Tomorrow night  Saturday October 13, 2007 I will be performing as a duo with folk rocker guitarist Lee
Springall at Laurinda’s Bar in Bradford, Ontario, Canada. Then on October 17th I will be in Oakville, Ontario for a showcase at The Moonshine Cafe, October 18th at The Royal York Hotel in Toronto and October 19th brings me back to my favorite acoustic showcase venue in Toronto The Renaissance Cafe.

More information about these shows can be found at:

In the songwriting department I have been working with Nashville based BMI lyrics writer Tom Yeager.  Tom and I have written three songs that we are going to demo professionally. I am really excited to go down to MUSIC CITY USA in November to produce the recording and network myself as a songwriter and musician. The three songs that Tom and myself have written together are titled GOODBYE LITTLE MISS 911, CAN’T FIND LOVE ON THE DIAL and INTO THAT MONTANA SUN

Tom is a great guy and a fantastic lyricist. You can check him out at
www.myspace.com/writertomyeager
www.myspace.com/writertomyeagerandfriends
Some of the songs we have written together are posted at this page!

I think that is everything…I realize that this blog is mostly a music diary for my self but it has come to my attention that some folks are actually checking in and reading! So thanks for taking an interest and for all your support!

Please feel free to leave your comments, thoughts and concerns.

This week to Waterloo and more!

•September 8, 2007 • 2 Comments

Hi all,

I know it’s late in the week but better late then never to write some thoughts…

I have been playing alot this summer with Canadian legendary (mysterious) guitarist Lee Springall.  Lee has been around playing in Canada since the late 1960’s.
He’s a 63 year old Canadian or Ontario folk hero that is full of life! Lee’s playing is deeply rooted in the blues and rock tradition.

I took a gig with Lee back in May of 2007 and that led to many more gigs through out the summer including playing to 5000 people at The Friday the 13th bikers rally in Port Dover, Ontario back in July of 2007. What a blast that was!!!

Playing with Lee this past summer has been alot of fun!
I have traveled all over Ontario playing to full houses of enthusiastic crowds who just want to have a good time! Genuine music lovers who listen attentively. The crowds are just as important as the musicians on stage. When they mesh together it’s a beautiful thing!

Lee puts on a great show and plays lots of fun covers that get the crowed going.
As a band member he treats me with respect and always pays me on time.
Any working musician will tell you that’s hard to come by so I can’t complain.

Through playing with Lee this past summer I have played in his band as a supporting act to artists like Jeff Healy, Stepen Wolf, The Carpet Frogs, The Blooze Brothers and many more.

As a musician who is looking to really put myself out there Lee has really helped me cross so many different musical paths and network with all the people on those paths!
Any musician will tell you that this is not a bad thing either!

Tonight I am playing in Waterloo, Ontario with the rest of the band which features Lee Springall on guitar/vocals, Adlai Waxman on keyboards/vocals, Rob Thomson on Bass/vocals and Chris on Drums. I don’t know Chris’ last name but I will post it as soon as I find that out:)

You can find more information about what I am doing with Lee at http://www.scotiaentertainment.com/barefoot.shtml

Last weeks gig in Cambridge was so much fun and I am sure the show in Waterloo tonight will be the same!

From the songwriting angle I have two songs in the works with Nashville based co-writer Tom Yeager. The demos for these songs will be recorded this weekend and posted on line shortly after. You can hear our first co write Titled GOOD BYE MISS LITTLE 911 at http://www.myspace.com/writertomyeagerandfriends

Next week I am off to New York to do some playing and networking with my songs. I hope you will check back to hear about my experiences as a musician in New York City. I look foword to telling you all about it.

Thanks and all the best to you.

Adlai

Hi All,

Thanks for checking in.

The past month I have been doing allot of songwriting. Allot of great songs are coming, some still need work and others just write themselves like Townes Van Zandt used to say!

I finished my first Nashville co write with songwriter Tom Yeager! Tom is an unreal lyricist that I am very fortunate to have teamed up with. Tom gave up his day job 2 years ago to move to Nashville and write songs. You can hear our first demo track tittled GOOD BYE MISS LITTLE 911 as well as some of Tom’s other songs at www.myspace.com/writertomyeagerandfriends.

Tom and myself are working hard on two more songs that will be posted shortly. Let us know what you think. You can post comments on the my space page or at this blog.

As for gigs it’s off to Kitchener, Ontario, Canada this Friday August 31, 2007 to play with The Lee Springal Duo featuring myself on keyboards and vocals and Lee Springall on Guitar and Vocals. For more information you can go to www.scotiaentertainment.com/barefootboogieband

pomonarecording.jpgHello everyone in blog world. My name is Adlai Waxman. I am a musician singer songwriter based out of Toronto, Ontario , Canada. I started this blog to let everyone know what’s happening in my music world. I have had many great adventures with this music journey I am on. I thought it was about time to let everyone know about all things music in my life. I have been playing on the road as a front man and side man for many years. There have been all sorts of highs and lows with my music career. I have stuck with it though as playing music is what I love and it keeps me happy! There are months when I don’t make allot of money and there are months when I do. I feel very fortunate to be able to continue my music career working with so many great musicians and songwriters!!!

The excitement of playing live has never gone away and it never will.Weather it’s been playing to 5 people  or 5000 people.

In this blog I will talk about everything from upcoming gigs to my thoughts on shows that I am doing, what music I am currently listening to and many other thoughts so please subscribe and leave your thoughts and comments. I look forward to hearing from you!

Here is a brief history to tell you more about me and my music.
